Hungry Bellies On The Highway

so I am driving at a speed of 100 km an hr on the national Highway, feeling the thrill of long drives and empty roads at 6 am in the morning ,rejoicing my heart and mind with the beats of Beatles.
The scenic beauty is mesmerizing and enchanting  . The sun , the birds , the clean road, the green pasture , grazing cattle, a group of women with pitcher on there heads walking on a straight path  which  are all coming along my way. we were rolling in euphoria when our bellies started feeling hungry. To beat the traffic we left early and didn't pack food for the journey  as we were aware that many Dhabas would come along our way." Alas! where is the Dhaba  " said my 10 year old daughter. Finally we stopped at a decent dhaba to fill our HUNGRY BELLIES.

These dhabas are actually the lifeline of bus and truck drivers and also some crazy people like us who love to travel by road. mainly basic cuisine is cooked here like Dal(pulses) , rice , breads(chapati and parantha), chicken or mutton. nowadays one can also find bread , butter, eggs, and off course lassi and Tea.
It was 8 am , we ordered Toast and butter, Aaloo Parantha , lassi. We were delighted by the service of the dhaba guy .  The Aaloo parantha was served with loads of white butter and curd which was not mentioned in the menu. we were all giggling and smiling. After satisfying ourselves we left for the road ahead,by this time the clock has struck 9 .
The sun was smiling bright on us . I geared up myself for the rocking journey ahead. The car was at its perfect speed everybody inside it was relaxed and quiet. Many trucks were parked outside the small eating joints along the road. The drivers were relaxing on the wooden beds lying outside the  dhabas.
By now the traffic started pouring in as it was the beginning of summer holidays for children and people were heading towards the hills.
It was 1 pm and we stopped at famous dhaba  ..Ahh!  hungry again.. so filled our bellies with mouth watering , tempting food and left for our destination. we reached Shimla well in time. Thanked all the dhabawalas for making our roadtrip lovely with there superb food and smile. It was time now to relax as we will be moving ahead for our journey to the hills and eager to eat at the dhabas on the highway.
